5 Jotas Acorn-Fed 100% Iberian Ham from Jabugo

5 Jotas Ham, also known as 5J Ham or Cinco Jotas, is an acorn-fed 100% Iberian ham produced in Jabugo. Cinco Jotas dates back to 1879 and is closely linked to the ham-making tradition of this town in the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche.

This product belongs to the highest Iberian ham category: acorn-fed 100% Iberian. It comes from 100% Iberian pigs raised free-range and associated with the traditional dehesa system during the montanera season.

At El Palacio del Jamón you can buy your 5 Jotas Ham by choosing from the weights currently available and selecting the preparation option that best suits your needs.

5 Jotas Ham price and available weights

The current price starts at €72.90/kg. The final price depends on the selected weight and preparation options.

Available weights vary according to current stock. We usually offer 5 Jotas Hams weighing approximately 6 to 9 kg, although the selector on this page always shows the weights currently available for purchase.

Before adding the product to your basket, you can choose specific available weights such as 7 kg, 7.1 kg, 7.3 kg, 7.5 kg, or any other weights currently shown in the selector.

This allows you to compare both the total price of each ham and its price per kilogram.

What does acorn-fed 100% Iberian mean?

The term acorn-fed 100% Iberian identifies hams from pigs of 100% Iberian breed associated with the traditional feeding and rearing conditions of the montanera season.

Within the Iberian ham identification system, this category corresponds to the black seal, reserved for acorn-fed 100% Iberian ham.

Cinco Jotas origin and production

Cinco Jotas produces its hams in Jabugo, Huelva, where the brand's historic cellars are located. Its history dates back to 1879, and its production is closely linked to the climate of Jabugo, its natural cellars and the traditional knowledge of its master ham makers.

During the montanera season, 100% Iberian pigs are raised free-range in the dehesa and feed on its natural resources, including acorns. The hams then go through the different stages of salting, drying and maturation required to develop their characteristic qualities.

What does 5 Jotas Ham taste like?

5 Jotas Ham can range in colour from pink to deep red and shows visible marbling from infiltrated fat. At room temperature, the fat becomes softer and contributes to the aroma and long-lasting flavour of the ham.

Its profile is generally characterised by a juicy texture, infiltrated fat and the persistent flavour associated with acorn-fed 100% Iberian ham.

Which preparation options can you choose?

At El Palacio del Jamón, this ham can be ordered in different formats depending on availability:

  • Whole ham: the complete ham in its traditional presentation.
  • Started cut: we prepare the beginning of the ham to make the first cuts easier.
  • Deboned: the bone is removed without adding extra preparation time.
  • Tapas-style sliced: supplied in packs of approximately 200 g.
  • 100 g sliced packs: prepared and vacuum packed.

For sliced ham orders, usable trimmings are included. Slicing requires approximately 2–3 additional working days of preparation.

Whole or sliced 5 Jotas Ham: which should you choose?

A whole ham is suitable for customers who enjoy carving the ham at home and want to keep the product in its traditional format.

Sliced packs make portioning easier and allow each sealed pack to remain closed until required. This option is also convenient for customers who do not have a ham stand or carving knife.

5 Jotas Ham or 5 Jotas Iberian Shoulder: what is the difference?

Ham comes from the pig's hind legs, while Iberian shoulder comes from the front legs. Ham is therefore generally a larger piece and usually provides a higher overall yield.

Iberian shoulder is smaller and generally has a more intense flavour because of its proportion of bone and fat.

If you prefer a more compact piece, consider our 5 Jotas acorn-fed 100% Iberian Shoulder.

Approximate yield of a 5 Jotas Ham

The edible yield of a whole ham depends on its weight, the shape of the piece and the way it is carved. As a general guide, a ham can provide approximately 40–45% usable product or sliced yield.

The remaining weight mainly consists of bone, rind and external fat removed during preparation.

How to store a 5 Jotas Ham

Once the ham has been started, we recommend keeping it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.

After carving, the exposed surface can be protected with some of the outer fat removed when the ham was first opened.

If you choose sliced, vacuum-packed ham, keep the packs sealed according to the instructions on the label. Before serving, allowing the ham to reach an appropriate temperature helps the fat recover its texture and aroma.

5 Jotas Ham delivery

Standard delivery to mainland Spain usually takes 2–3 working days. In occasional transport-related situations, delivery may take up to 4 working days.

Standard mainland Spain delivery is free on orders over €99. For orders under €99, the standard delivery charge is €6.90.

Slicing adds approximately 2–3 working days of preparation. Deboning does not add extra preparation time.
